Philip Parkin (born
12 December 1961) is a Welshgolf er.He attended
Texas A&M University in the United States. He became the first player to receive a full scholarship for the University's Golf Team. He was the first Aggie and first European golfer to become 1st Team All American. He won the British Youth Championship in 1982 and theBritish Amateur Championship in 1983. He is the only player to hold both trophies at the same time. He also appeared in the 1983Walker Cup .He played on the
European Tour from the mid 1980s to the mid 1990s and thePGA Tour in the mid eighties . He was theSir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year in 1984. Although he played both tours simultaneously, he still made the top forty of the Order of Merit in Europe in 1985 and 1986, but wasn't able to build on his early success due to eye sight problems.Major Championship Appearances;1983 - 1989 Seven
Open Championships 1984 -The Masters International Team Honours;Represented Wales 47 times including five Alfred Dunhill Cup's including two semi- finals.Two World Cup's in 1984 and 1989 placing 4th and fifth respectively.
Since leaving the tour he has worked as a golf commentator/ analyst for Sky Sports, The Golf Channel, European Tour Productions, Setanta Sports, and the BBC.
