DPD ("Deutscher Paket Dienst" and "Dynamic Parcel Distribution") is a German parcel delivery company. It has more than 500 depots in more than 35 countries. The company was founded in 1977 in
Aschaffenburg . In its first year of operation, over 1.4 million parcels were shipped - by 1980 this figure had risen to 7 million. Today 1.5 million parcels are shipped every day and the DPD is owned by the French postal company La Poste. DPD is one of Europe's leadingB2B parcel delivery services.The UK carrier Parceline was acquired by La Poste in 2001. It was rebranded as DPD in March 2008.
