Industrie is a youth fashion label started in 1999 in Sydney, Australia. It produces mainly streetwear and denim, but has dabbled in swimwear and accessories.

History

To begin with, only men's clothing was made, but due to the label's success, women's clothing was added.

It has now become a mainstream label, worn by many young people.

Influence

In recent years, the label has come to symbolise a trend in fashion, especially in Sydney. It was one of the first labels to widely use fraying, rips and unfinished hems in its clothing. It was also one of the first to place graffiti and paint splatter style prints on t-shirts.

Originally the label was only sold at Myer department stores, but in 2003, branched out into its own stores. Industrie stores are located on the east coast of Australia: in Victoria, New South Wales & Queensland. New Zealand also have a Flagship store located in Auckland. In 2006, Industrie further expanded into selected David Jones department stores.

Industrie is also heavily involved in supporting Canteen, this charity is dedicated to supporting children diagnosed with cancer, Industrie have run multiple fundraisers to help Canteen including designing bandanas which are part of 'National Bandana Day' and creating wetpacks which sell over the Christmas period which have proven to be very popular.
