The single was released to radio in September of 1993, however, like the previous two singles it didn't gain much airplay, and actually failed to appear on the "Billboard" country singles chart. To date, it remains the only U.S. released single of Twain's career that failed to make the "Billboard"Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.Music video

music video for "You Lay a Whole Lot of Love on Me" was shot inMontreal ,Quebec and directed by Steven Goldmann. It was filmed onAugust 19 and 20, 1993 and released onSeptember 7 ,1993 . The video is set in the 1950s with Shania going around town with her boyfriend. Scenes with Twain singing are in color while the scenes with the boyfriend are in black and white. The video is available on Twain's DVD "The Platinum Collection".
