Abdul Basith

Abdul Basith

Abdul Basith was captain of the Indian national volleyball team and came from the state of Andhra Pradesh. In 1989 he was awarded the Arjuna award.

Known for his gentlemanly conduct, fair play, and tall frame, Basith was awarded the Arjuna Award in 1989.

He died in 1991 after having been electrocuted. After his death, the Abdul Basith Memorial Volleyball Tournament was founded in his memory.
