Anitra Steen

Anitra Steen (born Anitra Bergström on May 13, 1949) is a Swedish civil servant. As of 2005 she is the manager of Systembolaget, the Swedish state alcohol retailing monopoly. In that role she has been forced to cope with a full blown corruption scandal, involving bribery of shop managers and senior staff by some major suppliers, including Vin & Sprit, formerly the producing and importing division of the Swedish state monopoly. Vin & Sprit is still owned by the Swedish state.

Steen was born in Fagersta, Västmanland, Sweden. She married Göran Persson, the then Prime Minister of Sweden, on December 6 2003, but kept the surname Steen from her previous marriage. Because of her personal connection to the head of the Swedish government, her independence as a board member of Scandinavian Airlines, which is jointly owned by the Scandinavian governments, has been put in question by some.
