Australian Brandenburg Orchestra
- Australian Brandenburg Orchestra
The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra is an Australian period instrument orchestra specialising in the performance of baroque and classical music.
The musicians play from original edition scores on restored or reproduced instruments of the eighteenth century. The orchestra was formed in 1989 and their name pays tribute to the Brandenburg concertos of Bach, who was central to the baroque and classical periods. The orchestra has used the newly constructed Sydney City Recital Hall as its main venue ever since the hall opened in 2000.
The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra makes regular appearances in the major concert halls and cultural venues of Australia, and has performed with guest artists such as Andreas Scholl, Emma Kirkby, Derek Lee Ragin and Andrew Manze. The orchestra's founder and Artistic Director is Paul Dyer.
