Kenneth Jay Lane, Inc.

Kenneth Jay Lane, Inc. also known as K.J.L. is a jewelry design firm founded by Kenneth Jay Lane in 1963.

The company which is known for the persona of its founder has created pieces for a number of United States First ladies as well as stars of the silver screen. These have included Jackie Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, Diana Vreeland, and Audrey Hepburn. Perhaps most notable is the three-strand faux pearl necklace worn by Barbara Bush to her husband's inaugural ball. Some say that Duchess of Windsor is buried in the jewelled belt created for her.

Many of the museum stores, including the Dallas Museum of Art, carry the line of jewelry but pieces can also be found on QVC and they have created jewelry for Avon. Today he not only has his own fragrance on the market, but a number of home furnishing items including jewelled picture frames.

K.J.L. pieces are now considered by many as collectable as precious gems, with vintage pieces selling at Christie's and Sotheby's and Doyle New York.
