Music

Following the path of many "Neighbours" stars by diversifying into music, McIntosh signed a five-album deal with Universal Music Australia in 2004. The two years that McIntosh spent making the album was turned into a reality TV show "The Steph Show", produced by Tom Nichols and Arnon Woolfson. The show debuted on Network Ten on July 28, 2006, the day before the release of her debut single "Mistake", and finished on September 15, 2006, the date the music video for her second single "Tightrope" was released. Successive albums have failed to appear, and rumours suggest she has been dumped by her label.

2006-2007: Tightrope, break into music

Her debut single "Mistake", was released on July 29, 2006 and premiered on Australian radio on June 26, 2006. It debuted on the ARIA Charts at #3, and was certified Gold in August 2006, with shipments of over 35,000 units.

"Tightrope", the second single to be lifted off the album, made the Australian top 20, but failed to chart as well as "Mistake". The album debuted and peaked at #4 on the ARIA Charts and at #1 on the Australasian Charts and was also accredited Gold.

The third single to be lifted from the album, "So Do I Say Sorry First?", did not do as well as her previous singles, peaking at number #34 on the ARIA Singles Chart.

A special repackaged edition of the album "Tightrope" was released on March 19, 2007.cite web|title=Digital Spy|url=http://www.universalmusic.com.au/ArtistDisplay.aspx?ArtistId=302633&Category=discography|accessdate=February 25|accessyear=2007] At her appearance on Habbo Hotel on March 8, 2007, McIntosh confirmed that the repackaged edition will feature remixes of the singles released from "Tightrope" as well as the bonus track "Catching My Breath". She also confirmed that a second season of "The Steph Show" is in the pipeline, however this increasingly looks unlikely. McIntosh was also nominated for "Spankin' New Artist" at the 2006 MTV Australia Video Music Awards, at which she also performed. Stephanie performed "So Do I Say Sorry First?" and struggled with part of the song where she was without musical backingFacts|date=July 2008, and her performance was cut from later screenings of the showFacts|date=July 2008. This was the second time she had struggled liveFacts|date=July 2008, following a poorly received performance on "The AFL Footy Show".

"Mistake" was the debut single released from "Tightrope" in the UK, with McIntosh promoting the album there in June 2007.cite web|title=Digital Spy|url=http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/a42369/neighbours-star-hopes-for-uk-chart-success.html|accessdate=February 3|accessyear=2007] "Mistake" was available in the UK for download only on June 18, 2007, with its physical release being a week later on June 25, 2007. McIntosh did a lot of promotional work on British radio and TV. "Mistake" debuted at #168 on the UK Singles Chart purely on downloads before reaching its peak of #47 upon its physical release.

The album, "Tightrope", was originally supposed to be released in the UK on July 2, 2007, but was delayed to August 20, 2007 due to the single "Mistake" not doing so well. In the weeks leading up to the release it peaked at #11 on the UK Top 100 Pre-order Albums Chart before its release, but failed to chart on the UK Albums Chart. "So Do I Say Sorry First?" was released as the second UK single. It was available in the UK for download only on August 6, 2007 and then its physical release would have been a week later on August 13; however, several days after the download release date, it was announced that "So Do I Say Sorry First?" would be a 'download exclusive' single. It later peaked at #258 on the UK Singles Chart.

When the album was finally released it charted at an extremely poor number 200 with only 365 copies of the album sold, although before the albums release it sold around 2,000 copies making it eligible to chart on the Pre-Order Chart. 2008-present: Return to acting

On May 25, 2008, an article in the "Herald Sun" stated that McIntosh has been in LA for quite a while now, meeting with potential agents and managers hoping to make it big over there. She has landed a number of high-profile auditions over there, including a role in the film "", McIntosh failed and the role was given to Isabel Lucas, and she has reportedly been sounded out regarding several high-profile shows in Australia.cite web|title=Stephanie McIntosh turns off music to turn on LA|url=http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,23752641-27258,00.html|accessdate=June 18|accessyear=2008]

A follow-up article in the "Herald Sun" on June 26, 2008 has stated that she got a callback for the lead role for a new CBS series called "Harper's Island", and has landed an auditionfor the new "Beverly Hills 90210" series. McIntosh has failed to secure a US manager. More tryouts in the US are scheduled for later on in 2008,cite web|title=Stephanie McIntosh's Hollywood star in the rise|url=http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,23922707-28957,00.html|accessdate=July 6|accessyear=2008] thus it is unknown whether she will continue her music career, though she still has 4 albums to release under Sony.
