Dr. Richards M. "Doc" Miller is considered one of the founders of the
Venturing program of theBoy Scouts of America (BSA) and is currently a member of the National Venturing Committee. Doc Miller resides in
Waynesboro, Virginia with his wife Georgiana Hardesty Miller. He is the father of four daughters and one son (an Eagle Scout) and currently has nine grandcildren. He attendedBrigham Young University (BYU) and was a BYU Cheerleader from 1967–1969; where he became the head cheerleader and a member of the Cougar Club.His family was selected as Model Waynesboro Family for Community Family Week 1996. The Millers have hosted foreign exchange students from
Japan ,Spain , andBrazil .Civic life
Doc Miller has been an avid
volleyball coach, serving with the Waynesboro City League for ten years and on numerous Latter Day Saint (LDS) church leagues for several years. From 1986–1997 he was the Junior Varsity volleyball coach at Wilson Memorial High School inFishersville, Virginia . He was the Junior Olympic Volleyball Coach in 1995, 1997 and 1998.*1997 Second Place Va. State Championships
