- Reese Bowen Brabson
Reese Bowen Brabson was an American politician and a member of the
United States House of Representatives for the 3rd congressional district ofTennessee . He was born at Brabsons Ferry near Knoxville onSeptember 16 ,1817 . He attended Dandridge Academy inDandridge, Tennessee , graduated fromMaryville College inMaryville, Tennessee in 1840, studied law, and was admitted to the bar in 1848. He commenced practice inChattanooga, Tennessee and also engaged in agricultural pursuits.He was a member of the
Tennessee House of Representatives in 1851 and 1852. He was elected as a member of the Opposition Party to the Thirty-sixth Congress, serving fromMarch 4 ,1859 toMarch 3 ,1861 . He was not a candidate for renomination in 1860. He engaged in the practice of his profession until his death in Chattanooga, Tennessee onAugust 16 ,1863 . He was interred in the Citizens Cemetery. He was the uncle ofCharles K. Bell , a U.S. Representative fromTexas .
