The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends
- The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends
"The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends" is an animated television series based on the works of Beatrix Potter that was initially shown on the BBC in 1992 (although The Tailor of Gloucester was broadcast later as a Christmas special). The show was subsequently broadcast on the Family in 1993-1995.
Each episode opens up with a live-action Beatrix Potter (portrayed by Niamh Cusack) coming to her farm house out of the rain, sitting down to some tea with her pet rabbit, Peter, and then setting up the featured story. An exception to this is "The Tailor of Gloucester", which is set at Christmas time. Some episodes, however, adapt two completely separate stories with similar casts of characters, particularly if one character from one story shows up in the other. Unlike all other animated adaptations of the story, the animation style for "The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends" is very close to the artwork shown in the original books. Because of this, the show is said to be perhaps the best screen adaptations that the books have ever received. The main title song for the show is "Perfect Day" by Miriam Stockley, which was known popularly since its use in the show as 'Theme for the Lake District'.Fact|date=April 2008
