Pilgrims Pre-Preparatory School is a co-educational, Independent day school for children aged 3–8 years. The Little Pilgrims unit is a nursery school catering for children from the age of 3 months–3 years (the nursery is within the main school complex). The school is part of the Harpur Trust family, and aims to prepare all its pupils for entry to the main Harpur Trust Schools: Bedford School, Bedford High School, Dame Alice Harpur School and Bedford Modern School.

The school building, which opened in January 2000, was designed by the winners of a national competition, Hampshire County Architects. It was built in Brickhill, Bedford on the site of the former (unrelated) Pilgrim School and thus retains in its name the reference to one of Bedford’s most famous citizens John Bunyan, author of the "The Pilgrim's Progress".
