Fish-man

The fish-man or hombre pez of Lierganes belongs to the mythology of Cantabria, located in the north of Spain.The fish-man of Lierganes is an amphibian human-looking being that lives in caves next to the sea. It spends time lying in wait for girls and devastating coast villages. The legend tells that on St John's Eve, in 1763, Mr. Francisco de la Vega Casar, who lived in Lierganes, went to the Bilbao's Ria to take a bath with his friends. He disappeared while he was swimming, and everybody thought he drowned. Six years later he was recovered by some Cadiz fishermen, and his body was scale-covered. After being recognised, he lived unground for nine years, until he distressed with the problems people caused him, and disappeared into the sea, forever.

Numerous reports have emerged of one fish-man appearing off the coast of Sydney, gleefully kicking away at nature's luscious reserves of pure sparkling, salt-water.
