William Mundy

William Mundy

William Mundy (c. 1529 – 1591) was an English composer of sacred music [cite web |url=http://www.classical.net/music/comp.lst/acc/mundy.html |title=William Mundy |publisher=Classical Net |accessdate=2007-08-05] . He was the father of John Mundy, organist and composer. Little is known about his life, except that he was appointed to the Chapel Royal in 1562–3, and was replaced in 1591, presumably following his death [cite journal |quotes=no |author=W. H. Grattan Flood |title=New light on late Tudor composers. III. William Mundy |journal=The Musical Times |year=1924 |volume=65 |issue=980 |pages=894–895 |doi=10.2307/911748] .
