Born in
England , her family moved toWellington, New Zealand when she was a child and was later raised in the nearby suburb of Kelburn. In 1993, she made her television acting debut in "The Storytellers ". Aballet dancer for four years, she performed in the stage productions "The Thinamajigs" (1993) and "The Buzz O’Bumble Show" (1994). Part of the chorus, she gave a solo performance at the State Opera House. Jewell also began attending the Film Acting Workshop.During the next two years, she played supporting roles in the Cloud 9's "
