Augustine Francis Schinner

Augustine Francis Schinner (May 1, 1863 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin-February 7,1937 in Milwaukee and was buried there) was a Roman Catholic bishop. He was the first Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Superior, in Superior, Wisconsin; [ [http://www.catholic-hierarchy.org/diocese/dsupe.html Superior (Diocese) [Catholic-Hierarchy ] ] he was the first Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Spokane, in Spokane, Washington. [ [http://www.catholic-hierarchy.org/diocese/dspok.html Spokane (Diocese) [Catholic-Hierarchy ] ] He was ordained to the priesthood on March 7, 1886, by Archbishop Michael Heiss of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee. On May 13, 1905, Pope Pius X appointed him the first Bishop of the Diocese of Superior; he was ordained a bishop on July 25, 1905. On March 18, 1914, Bishop Schinner was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Spokane, Washington; he was installed on April 18, 1914. On December 17, 1925, Bishop Schinner retired and he was a missionary in Bolivia from 1925-1928, until he finally retired to Milwaukee, where he died and was buried.
