Meath-Westmeath is a former parliamentary
constituency represented inDáil Éireann , the lower house of the Irish parliament orOireachtas . Covering the whole of the territory ofCounty Meath and most of the territory of Westmeath, it existed from1937 to1948 . It elected five Teachtaí Dála (TDs) to the Dáil, using theSingle Transferable Vote method ofproportional representation (PR-STV).History
The constituency was created in 1937, under the
Electoral (Revision of Constituencies) Act 1935 , for the 1937 general election to the9th Dáil . It was last used for the 1944 general election to the12th Dáil .Meath-Westmeath was abolished under the
Electoral (Revision of Constituencies) Act 1947 , and replaced by the two new constituencies of Meath and Longford-Westmeath.Boundaries
