J.L. Huffines Middle School is a junior high school in Lewisville, Texas. It educates around 1,000 students in grades 6-8 and is a part of the Lewisville Independent School District. The school was established in 1997. It has been ranked 287th out of 1511 Texas public middle schools (top 20%). For their 2006-2007 school year's yearbook their theme and title was "It's All About 'U'". The school's namesake is the founder of a number of automotive dealerships which operate in and around the Lewisville and Denton County area.

Awards

The school received a national award, 'Best Middle School Newscast for 2006' by Channel One News, a daily news service for schools across the nation. The news is a big part of Huffines, and the report is called 'Channel 39 News'. It includes a lead and a sports report. Much of the news reporters (selected/auditioned students) appeared on Channel 1 with their opinion on school safety, during the 2006 first semester. There is a new cast each semester. Shaunea Alex (Class of 2010), who was an 8th grade student in 2006, was awarded 'The Student of the Month' for March 2006 by the Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce.
