John Hervey Crozier

John Hervey Crozier was an American politician who represented Tennessee's 3rd congressional district in the United States House of Representatives. He was born in Knoxville on February 10, 1812. After attending public schools, he graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1829. He studied law, was admitted to the Tennessee bar, and practiced law in Knoxville.

From 1837 to 1839, he served in the Tennessee House of Representatives. He was elected as a Whig to the Twenty-ninth and Thirtieth Congresses, serving from March 4, 1845 to March 3, 1849. During the Thirtieth Congress, he was chairman of the Committee on Expenditures in the Department of War.

He resumed the practice of his profession in Knoxville and affiliated himself with the Democratic Party in 1856. In 1866, he retired from active practice and engaged himself in literary pursuits and historical research. He died in Knoxville on October 25, 1889 and was interred in Old Gray Cemetery.

He was father to suffragist Lizzie Crozier French.
