Kaarlo Maaninka

Kaarlo Hannes Maaninka (born December 25, 1953) is a former Finnish long distance runner. He was born in Posio and now lives in Kauhajoki, Finland. After his sports career he became religious and has revealed that he had used blood transfusion doping before some races.

Thanks to Lasse Virén's tactical skills in the 10 000 m run in Moscow, Maaninka had the chance to get a medal. Had Virén not come between them, the Ethiopians would probably have swept the medals.
