binomial_authority = Serventy, 1948The slender tuna, "Allothunnus fallai", is a species oftuna , the only species in the genus "Allothunnus", found circumglobally in the southern oceans between latitudes 20° and 50° South. Its length is up to onemetre (3.3 feet).The slender tuna is the most elongate of the larger tunas. It has low second dorsal and
anal fin s, smallpectoral fin s, and a pronouncedcorselet of scales around the pectoral area. There are moregill rakers on the inside of the first gill arch than any other member of this family.Coloration is blue-black above and grey-white below.
