The Nav Nirman (Re-invention) movement was a socio-political movement that occurred in 1974 in Gujarat. It started of as an argument over a 20% hike in hostel food bill in the L.E. College of Engineering (Morvi) Saurashtra, but ignited an agitation which later snowballed into a major public agitation that eventually led to the fall of the Gujarat state government and aggravated a national crisis which led Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to impose a state of emergency.
Chiman Bhai Patel
Mr. Chiman Bhai Patel was Chief Minister of Gujarat and during Nav Nirman movement many persons named "Chiman" also become victims of mob.
More than 100 people were dead in this movement.
