The Breathe were a rock band from Wellington, New Zealand. The group consisted of Andrew Tilby (vocals, guitar), Richard Small (guitar, vocals), Pet Johnson (bass), Steve Gallagher (keyboards) & Guy Fisher (drums)Breathe began when long time school friends, Richard Small, Andrew Tilby, Guy Fisher and Steve Gallagher formed the group with bassist Pet Johnson, in Wellington during the late nineties. The band recorded two EPs, "Things Like These" and "Smiley Hands" before signing to the indie label Felix and releasing their debut album "Pop Life". The band toured NZ for seven months in 1998 eventually gaining the support slot on the Exponents summer tour. It was on this tour that their live show captured the attention of Sony Music NZ who signed the band a few weeks after the end of their tour.

While Breathe were signed to Sony they released their second album "Don't Stop The Revolution" in 2000. They had a number 6 charting song in NZ with the title track Don't Stop The Revolution.

Breathe called it quits in 2001, when drummer Guy Fisher decided to leave the band. The remaining members formed Dead End Beat.
