Gainfield

Gainfield

Gainfield is a small ribbon development in the civil parish of Buckland, part of the Vale of the White Horse, in the English county of Oxfordshire.

It is located at gbmapping|SU349958, along the B4508 road, by its crossroads with the Buckland to Charney Bassett road, near Stanford in the Vale. It is opposite the woodland known as "Buckland Warren".

There is a legend, intertwined with that of nearby Cherbury Camp, that tells of the land being given as a reward to a young shepherd boy who saved the inhabitants of the camp by his vigilance.
