Bogdan Stelea started playing football at
Dinamo Bucharest in 1988 as a substitute goalkeeper and after 2 years became the first goalkeeper in his team, played in 37 games.In 1992 after he won the champion title with Dinamo he was transferred to
RCD Mallorca for $650.000. After 2 seasons in Spain he went in Belgium toStandard Liege but played only in 3 games so he came back in Romania toRapid Bucharest for a year.After one season in Turkey to
Samsunspor he returned one more time in Romania to the champion teamSteaua Bucharest and won 2 titles with them and participated for 2 times inUEFA Champions League .In 1997 Bogdan Stelea was transferred to
UD Salamanca in Spain and stayed there 7 seasons between 1997-2002 and 2002-2004 with a new come back in Romania to Rapid in 2002.After some games for Dinamo and
Akratitos he signed in 2005 forOtelul Galati but didn't play any match because of an bad injury.In 2006 he signed with
Unirea Urziceni at the recommendation of his new couch and former national teammate, Dan Petrescu. He slowly began winning the first place as the goalkepeer for Unirea. In 2008, at the age of 40, he was one of the best goalkepeers in the 2007-08 season inLiga I .International career
Stelea made his debut for the national team in 1988, and represented his country at the 1990 World Cup, 1994 World Cup, Euro 1996, 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000. He has been capped 91 times, the last against Slovakia in 2005.
