Perennial with bulbs below ground. Leaves 3-8, yellowish green, margins ciliate. Scapes 10–25 cm long. Raceme cylindric to almost spherical with 5-25 flowers. Tepals ranging from orange, red, yellow or rarely white, often with a green or brown center. Flowers in winter or spring.
