"Witness" is a 2001 novel of historical fiction, written by Karen Hesse. It is in first-person narration, though with each new page, a different narrator is used. The books is split into five acts, each with the same setting.

Brief Plot Synopsis

"Witness" is unique in that it is written in the form of a series of monologues by different characters, differently affected by the same series of actions.

The plot is based around how a town is affected once the Ku Klux Klan has moved in.
