Anne Maree Plunkett is the
Ambassador forAustralia to theRepublic of Ireland and theHoly See (Vatican), the latter position becoming formalised byPope Benedict XVI on 18 May 2006 when he accepted her letters of credence. She has been a careerstaff officer andforeign service officer in the AustralianDepartment of Foreign Affairs and Trade .Work history
Before her appointment as Ambassador to Ireland and the Holy See, Plunkett was the Director, Consular Operations Section, from October 2005. Before this she was Director, Diplomatic and Consular Accreditation Section (2002-2005).
On the 21st of July 2008, Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd announced the permanent appointment of an Australian ambassador to the Vatican. Former Australian deputy prime minister Tim Fischer. This position will take effect in January 2009, relieving Anne Plunkett of her duties to the Vatican.

Plunkett holds a
Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of New England.Personal
Plunkett is married to Mr.Gray and has three children, Timothy and Adam, and a daughter Kelly.
