Atari Jaguar console, developed by Rebellion (The same team that was behind "Alien vs. Predator"), and published bySongbird Productions in2000 .Plot
"Skyhammer" takes place in the mid-21st century where power-hungry corporations rule the largest cities. The player is an employee of Cytox, a Skyhammer pilot tgat protect the corporate investments. The player undertakes a wide variety of missions in order to prove their ability and ensure Cytox's long-term revenues.
Gameplay
The game's look and gameplay resemble the earlier
Psygnosis PlayStation releaseG-Police , as the game world consists of three hugeBlade Runner -esque cityscapes. The player controls a flying craft in a similar manner toDescent and has to partake in a number of missions involving objectives to combat crime in the city. Throughout the game money can be earned through successful kills, which can be spent on ship upgrades. There are two modes of play: Mission Mode and Battle Mode. The former allows you to go on a variety of missions while upgrading your Skyhammer and claiming more territory for your corporation. The latter allows you to fight endless waves of invading corporations. Both modes provide access to three uniquue cities, each with its own distinct layout and challenges.
With challenging, nonlinear missions, ship customization, and a solid 3D engine with animated textures (in the form of flashing billboards), "Skyhammer" is generally regarded by Jag fans and collectors as one of the better Jaguar titles and a game that proves that the Jaguar is 64-bit. The framerate, however, can become somewhat choppy when many enemies are on-screen. As a result, the game was a huge success.
