Samson Babi Mululu Kisekka (
June 23 1912 —October 25 1999 ) was aPresident of Uganda . He also worked as a medical doctor, politician and diplomat. He was closely associated withYoweri Museveni and served as prime minister and vice-president under him.Biography
Kisekka was born in Mengo,
Uganda and grew up near what would become Uganda's capital,Kampala . He attended the Makerere medical school and became a respected doctor. Eventually he entered politics and, disagreeing with Uganda's dictatorships, went into exile. After becoming an ally of Yoweri Museveni, he served as an international spokesman for his rebel group.Immediately after becoming president of Uganda, on
January 30 1986 Museveni appointed Kisekka to be the prime minister of Uganda. Kisekka served as prime minister for 5 years, untilJanuary 22 1991 when he became vice-president. He served as vice-president until his retirement in 1994, but remained a presidential advisor until his death. He died at a hospital inLondon ,England while awaiting heart surgery.Kisekka was known as a hard-working politician who supported an end to ethnic tensions and a government without corruption. He was a member of the
Seventh-day Adventist Church . He was married and had several children.References
