Itineris Early College High School

Itineris Early College High School is an Early College High School in the Jordan School District. It is located in West Jordan, Utah, on the campus of Salt Lake Community College. The school enables those who attend to receive their associate’s degree while earning their high school diploma at the same time. Itineris Early College has a wide variety of courses ranging in the sciences and mathematics to English and history. In junction with Salt Lake Community College, Itineris also has classes taught outside the campus that will help students achieve enough credits to receive their associate's degree in biotechnology or general studies. The school blends a college and high school lifestyle in that there is an easy transition from high school to college in two years with the support of friends, family, and administration support.

Itineris Early College High School is a new kind of institution that blends high school and college into a coherent educational program. It is designed so that all students can achieve up to two years of college credit at the same time as they are earning a high school diploma.

Itineris Early College High Schools share similar characteristics that have shown to improve learning and academic success in students.

These characteristics include:
*Being located on or near college campus
*Operating within a mature learning environment
*Offering a rigorous curriculum
*Pursuing college credit within an accredited college degree-granting program

Currently, there are over 20 Early College High Schools nationwide. The Jobs for the Future Early College High School Initiative, sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in partnership with the Carnegie Corporation of New York, The Ford Foundation, and The W.K. Kellogg Foundation, has awarded more than $50 million in grant money to support approximately 100 new schools over the next five years.
