Jason Maurice Capel (born
January 15 ,1980 in Fayetteville,North Carolina ) is a formerbasketball player for the North CarolinaTar Heel s.At a height of 6 feet and 8 inches and a weight of 220 pounds, Capel plays the
small forward position. Capel is only one of nine players to ever start for UNC's basketball team in all four years of his eligibility. He led the Tar Heels in scoring in his senior year with 15.6 points per game. He also played in theNCAA Final Four in 2000.Capel went undrafted in the
National Basketball Association Draft in 2002. Though he briefly made theCharlotte Bobcats ' roster, he never played in an NBA game. He then turned down more lucrative offers inEurope to play basketball in the NBA D-League for theFayetteville Patriots , a team coached by his fatherJeff Capel II . After two years in the D-League he played professionally inJapan .He is the brother of Jeff Capel, former
Duke University basketball player and current head coach ofUniversity of Oklahoma 's men's basketball team.Despite the name recognition of the Capel family and a good all-around game, Jason has yet to catch on with an NBA team. Currently, he is still looking to make an NBA squad.Fact|date=March 2008 He played college basketball at a weight of 237 pounds, got up to 245 pounds to play power forward in the D-League, and he's now down to 220 pounds to play small forward. He considers himself to be in the best shape of his life, and still cites making the NBA as one of his biggest dreams.
He played for BT Roseto of the Italian Serie A league in 2005–2006, from July to December 2006 he played with Air Avellino in the same league.

Raycom Sports during the 2007–2008 college basketball season.
