Simon Augustini

Simon Augustini (born on November 2, 1949 in Sojeva, Uroševac, Kosovo) is primarily known as Vice Chairman of the PSHDK. He has many other political and financial interests.

Pre-political and business life

Augustini went to 'Economic Secondary School' in Uroševac, graduating in 1968. He continued his studies in the Economics Faculty of the University of Priština, graduating in 1972. From 1972 to 1975, Augustini worked as a teacher in the 'Economic High School' in Uroševac and later worked as a financial expert in the Financial Secretariat of Kosovo. In 1976 he moved to the Buffer's Factory in Priština, working as a manager, financier and commercial expert. In 1979 he became General Director and marketing expert of "Agrokosova - Commerce" in Priština.

Augustini was forced to resign from his position in a state firm in the 1990s as a result of discrimination in Kosovo by the then-Yugoslav government, and established his own private company.

In 2001, Augustini was elected as a Director of Public Services in the Municipality of Priština and in 2003 became a Coordinator of Job and Training Office in the "Don Bosko" social-educational centre in Priština.

Political life

As the political situation in Kosovo worsened in the 1990s, Augustini joined the Albanian Demochristian Party of Kosovo (PSHDK, Albanian: Partia Shqiptare Demokristiane e Kosovës) in 1992, which had been formed in 1990. In 1993 he was elected as General Secretary of the PSHDK. He served in this position until the beginning of the Kosovo War in 1999. After that war he was re-elected as a General Secretary, serving until 2004 when he was elected as a Vice Chairman of the party.
