He first appears in "Strange Adventures" issue #114 (March 1960), then appeared in about every third issue until #162 (1964). Star was a private detective in the 21st Century (the year 2079, to be exact), who had a robot receptionist,
Ilda . The series wasn't totally serious, being played something for laughs. For instance, Ilda (who had a sort of protective "crush" on her human employer) often used her robot strength and other abilities to assist Hawkins solve his cases, but made sure to do this in such a way that Hawkins believed he had succeeded on his own.In "
DC Comics Presents " #33 (1981), a 'Whatever happened to?....' tale, set in 2092, Star retired, as did Ilda. He married heiressStella Sterling , while his receptionist Ilda married her robot bodyguard, Automan, himself the star of a short series in "Tales of the Unexpected".Death
At some stage in his career, Hawkins was transported back to the 20th Century. While living there, he became good friends with
Captain Comet , another space-based hero. At some undetermined date Hawkins lost his private investigator lisence, and by 2006 was an elderly man living onHardcore Station . He was murdered by an unknown telepath.Other versions
