- Haiste Ltd
Haiste Ltd was an engineering consultancy business originally founded in the 1920’s by John Herbert Haiste as John H. Haiste and Partners in Hull, Yorkshire, UK. After World War 2 the practice moved headquarters to Leeds. Developing from a predominantly northern local authority client base, mainly in water supply and sewage disposal, the partnership became a limited company within the Haiste Group and moved into significant overseas activities in the 1970’s, particularly in the Middle East including major water and sewage projects in Iraq and Libya.
The company also expanded throughout the UK and arising from political and economic uncertainties in the Middle East gradually withdrew from activities there in the mid 1980’s. Together with sister companies within the group, the business was acquired in 1988 by the Danish company Carl Bro [http://www.grontmij-carlbro.com/en/Frontpage.htm] . In turn the Carl Bro Group has now become part of the Dutch based company Grontmij [http://www.grontmij.co.uk/site/en-gb/default.htm?NRMODE=Published&NRNODEGUID=%7b8DD70727-EF36-4207-A280-DD595067466B%7d&NRORIGINALURL=%2f&NRCACHEHINT=Guest] .
