"Funny How Time Flies (When You're Having Fun)" is the seventh and final single from American R&B singer Janet Jackson's third studio album, "Control" (1986). "Funny How Time Flies (When You're Having Fun)" was released in the United Kingdom and Australia but went for airplay only in the U.S. in 1987. It is suggested that since "The Pleasure Principle" missed the top ten by four positions on the "Billboard" Hot 100, "Funny How Time Flies (When You're Having Fun)" was released as a radio-only single in America. The song was written by Jackson and collaborators/producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. It performed poorly on the UK Singles Chart, only reaching number fifty-nine. In America, though while it never charted there, it became a famed quiet storm staple on adult R&B radio stations. Ever since its release, the single has got lots of after dark play, and has even become an R&B favorite voted as number three on the list of best Janet Jackson slow jams in 2004. The song is notable for the singer's moans and groans and rich French-speaking etiquette at the beginning and at the end of the song. Jackson's mother was offended by her youngest daughter's moans on the track.Fact|date=June 2007 No music video was filmed for the single. Jazz musician Stanley Clarke covered the song for his 1988 album "If This Bass Could Only Talk".

The song was sampled in the Lost Boyz hit Renee.
