He released a single of his own called "Degeneration Gap" in1969 , has written or co-written numerous songs performed by other artists, including The Purple Gang,Garden Club , and theBeach Boys , and produced for numerous others. He has written several "Fake Books", easy arrangements of popular songs.In the 1980s and early 1990s, Almer wrote a number of songs for Washington, D.C.'s annual
