Plot summary
Set during one long night in a 10-story, high-rise apartment complex in a nameless German city, Demons 2 begins with a film-within-a-film shown on TV about a group of four teenagers who investigate a "forbidden zone", in which a demon infestation once took place (see Dèmoni). Finding the lifeless corpse of a demon, one of the teens accidentally causes it to revive by its own blood. Sally Day (Coralina Cataldi-Tassoni), a teenage girl celebrating her 16th birthday party while her parents are out, is watching the broadcast when the demon on television somehow notices her and breaks out of the screen to attack her, similar to the Demon in the original film's "in-movie". Now a demon herself, she attacks and infects the partygoers, and the outbreak begins, although two of her friends manage to successfully hide in a nearby bedroom.
Various other members of the building are shown blissfully unaware of the situation the building has found itself in. A woman is killed by blood dripping from a dog that has been infected by an acidic like blood that is dripping through the building, whereas a young boy also falls victim to the blood after successfully evading several Demons, including Sally. A prostitute finishes with one of her clients but gets stuck in an elevator with George (David Edwin Knight), after the aforementioned blood reaches and destroys the electrical system.
His pregnant wife Hannah (Nancy Brilli) still blissfully unaware of what is happening, receives a knock on the door from the young boy, whom eventually forces his way in. After a brief struggle the young boy suddenly keels over and a non-human origin Demon bursts out of his chest, chasing Hannah around the apartment. Hannah tries and fails to kill the creature by methods of crushing it, trying to cut it and pouring acid onto it. George has now escaped the elevator via the hatch, but the prostitute is now infected after being grabbed through a small gap in the door by a zombie, he eventually kills her and makes his way to his apartment, killing the non-human Demon with an umbrella when he arrives.
Meanwhile in the basement car park, a group of body builders led by gym instructor Hank have barricaded themselves in along with a group of tenants. All attempts to break out of the car park prove futile, they decide to stand their ground and try to defend themselves with makeshift weapons, such as molotov cocktails and a few shotguns. The Demons eventually make it down to the basement and force their way in and although they heavily outnumber the Demons, the uninfected are relatively easily defeated and are either turned into Demons themselves or are killed.
The infected start making their way back up the building but George starts to leak gas and causes an explosion that kills all the infected except Sally. Hannah and George search for a way out and go into Sally's apartment, finding the original two party-goers that had hidden. The group make their way to the roof but are stopped by Sally, she infects the two party-goers before seemingly being defeated by George. George and Hannah start to lower themselves, again having to defeat a resilient Sally. They make their way into the next building where Hannah gives birth to the couple's child. George has to defeat Sally again, but this time kills her and the couple make their way outside with their newborn child.
Soundtrack
In this sequel, Bava opted to use British New Wave bands such as the Smiths, the Cult, Dead Can Dance, and the Art of Noise on the soundtrack as opposed to heavy metal bands in the original Dèmoni.
