rattail of the genus "Caelorinchus ", found circumglobally in the southern oceans, at depths of between 600 and 1,150 m. Its length is between 20 to 40 cm.The campbell whiptail has the usual greatly elongated pointed tail of the rattails, as well as large eyes and a long sharply-pointed snout. The scales are fairly large.
Body colour is pinkish with a dark blue saddle around the middle, and blackish fins.
