Kurt Dahle is a Canadian musician best known for his work as a drummer for
The New Pornographers .Born in
Saskatchewan , Dahle first made himself known in Canadian music circles as a member of the bandAge of Electric , with his brotherRyan Dahle and another set of brothers,Todd Kerns andJohn Kerns . Age of Electric spawned several hits in Canada, and earned aJuno Award nomination for "Best New Artist" in 1998 (nine years after Age of Electric was first formed). DahleKurt and brother Ryan Dahle began working on a side project,
Limblifter , and released a self-titled album in 1996, which contained a trio of top-40 Canadian radio hits. After the dissolution of Age of Electric in 1999, the band released a second album, "Bellaclava" in 2000. Kurt soon left the band to contribute to The New Pornographers who gained much critical acclaim for their albums "Mass Romantic " (2000), "Electric Version " (2003), "Twin Cinema " (2005) and Challengers (2007) under theMatador Records andMint Records labels.Kurt worked on albums by
The Awkward Stage andThe Choir Practice , both released withMint Records . He was also the drummer for Bloody Chicletts and drummed on the majority of the tracks on the albumField Manual , the first solo record byChris Walla , the guitarist forDeath Cab For Cutie .
