Julsund

Julsundet is a 15 km long strait between the North Atlantic Ocean and Romsdalsfjord, 15 minute west of Molde, Norway. It runs north-south from Julneset to Bud, between the Romsdal peninsula and the islands Otrøy and Gossen (Aukra), .

The strait is up to 500m deep, 2-3 km wide, has a significant tidal current, and is exposed to strong northerly winds. Julsundet was heavily fortified by the Germans during World War II.
