The Bay Area SIGWEB was a special interest group for the
World Wide Web that was founded in August1993 by the staff of theUniversity of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Center for Knowledge Management (CKM) [http://www.ckm.ucsf.edu/] , at the direction of CKM Director Dr. Michael Doyle, who later became the founder ofEolas .Prominent members included
Xerox PARC ,Sun Microsystems , O'Reilly Publishers, andPacific Bell .SIGWEB's first president was UCSF's Chris McRae.
