Richard McGee Morse

Richard "Dick" McGee Morse, Ph.D. (26 June 1922 – 17 April 2001) was a Latin Americanist scholar and professor at Princeton University.

Morse was born in Summit, New Jersey, USA, but moved with his family at a young age to Greenwich, Connecticut. In 1939, Morse attended Princeton University where he studied literature with Allan Tate and R. P. Blackmur. As a student, Morse studied in Cuba, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil, and graduated "magna cum laude" with a major in the School of Public and International Affairs.

Following World War II, Morse continued his academic and literary career, becoming an expert in Latin American studies. He married Emerante de Pradine, a Haitian singer, and had one child, Richard Auguste Morse, who currently resides in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Morse died on April 17, 2001, at his home in Pétionville, Haiti.
