Manoj Kumar loses his first wife (Nanda) in an accident and his son sees the event and is traumatised and loses his speech. How Manoj gets his son to recover is the focus of the film. In the end, his son gets his voice back but Manoj Kumar goes deaf and can't hear him sing.
