Willi Gutmann is a notable
Swiss sculptor . Gutmann was born in 1927 in the town ofDielsdorf , Switzerland near the city ofZurich . Gutmann began his career as an architect and designer but moved on to sculpture in the early 1960's. The majority of his sculptures employ various types of metals and alloys which can be manipulated to transform in various ways. Gutmann specializes in monumental sculptures which are based on disjointed movable bodies. Gutmann's sculpture can be found throughout the world including many works in theUnited States ,Mexico ,Canada ,Japan , and acrossEurope . His largest sculpture measures 84 feet and is located at the Embarcadero Centre inSan Francisco, California . In addition, he was the featured artist representing Switzerland in the 1968 Olympic Route of Friendship inMexico City . His work, "Twin Circles Geared Together" is located inMervis Hall at theUniversity of Pittsburgh .
