Canadian Ski Instructors' Alliance

The Canadian Ski Instructors' Alliance (CSIA), founded in 1938, is an association of more than 20,000 professional skiers located across Canada. The CSIA's purpose is to ensure a nationwide ski teaching standard that also promotes the importance of ski safety. It helps to develop effective skiing techniques and teaching methods.

The organization grants four levels of certification as well as several module certifications to ski instructors. Each successive level demonstrates competence in ski instruction, pedagogy, as well as individual ski performance. As such, the highest level (four) is difficult to attain, with only a handful holding that level within each region.

There are many organisations that work with the CSIA to promote the development of ski instructors in Canada and the rest of the world. An organisation such as SnowSkool can help to organise the entire experience for you, ensure that you have sufficient training through a CSIA-registered Ski School, provide flight, accommodation and meals.

SnowSkool have been operating since 2004 and programmes take place at the Canadian resorts of Big White in British Columbia and Sunshine Village in Banff. You can gain CSIA Level 1 ski instructor, CSIA Level 2 ski instructor and CSIA Freestyle Coach qualifications
