Broxbourne ".Broxbourne is a local government district andborough inHertfordshire ,England . Its council is based inCheshunt , other towns includeBroxbourne ,Hoddesdon andWaltham Cross . The eastern boundary of the district is theRiver Lea . The borough covers 20 square miles in south eastHertfordshire having a population of about 83,000.The borough was formed on
April 1 ,1974 by the merger ofCheshunt andHoddesdon urban districts .In the May 2008 elections, the Conservative lost one seat to Michael Watson of the Labour party.
In Broxbourne borough, the green belt protects the surrounding countryside. The west of Broxbourne borough extends over well-wooded countryside to include
Goff's Oak and the popularLee Valley Park which marks the eastern boundary. Although urbanised with industrial and commercial activity, the whole area retains much of its rural character and is liked by people commuting toLondon .The borough is twinned with the Sicilian city of
