Seinfeld ". The episode was the seventh episode for the show's second season. It aired onApril 18 ,1991 .Plot
George quits his job after tiring of his demanding boss; he immediately regrets his decision. Hence, he returns to the workplace, pretending that the event had never occurred. He is fired for the second time, and plots revenge on his erstwhile employer. His plan is to "slip a mickey in his drink," with the help of Elaine.
Jerry is irked to discover that the money he had hidden in his laundry bag went missing subsequently to his going to the laundromat. He immediately blames the owner, who claims no responsibility, pointing to a sign that states this. Jerry is furious, and, with the help of Kramer, plots to pour a bag of cement into the washing machine, which, according to Kramer, will come out in "one solid block!" After the "prank" was pulled Kramer said it would cost 1,200 dollars to fix the washer, in a bit of irony Jerry's money turned up in Kramer's laundry bag.
uperman reference
* Jerry: If only you could put your mind to something worthwhile. You're like
Lex Luthor . (Said to Kramer, when he devises a very strange, devious plan.)Quotes
* Jerry: So, anybody leaves anything here, you can just take it? You have a license to steal? You are like the James Bond of laundry!
* George: That's it! This is it! I'm done! Through! It's over! I'm gone! Finished! Over! I will never work for you again! Look at you! You think you're an important man? Is that what you think? You are a laughing stock! You are a joke! These people are laughing at you! You're nothing! You have no brains, no ability, nothing!(knocks down a statue on his boss's desk)...I quit!
* Jerry: Where did you even get a mickey? I can't believe I'm saying mickey!:*George: I have a source.:*Jerry: You've got a mickey source.
Trivia
* As a
method actor ,Michael Richards insisted on dumping a real bag of cement into the washing machine, in order to get the proper physical reactions to such a heavy object. He would later repeat this method in Season 3's "The Parking Garage ", wherein he lugged around a cardboard box with a real air conditioner inside.
* This is the first episode to make reference to the character Newman. At this point, he was not planned to be a recurring character and thus never appears onscreen. He is also not established as Jerry's nemesis.
* This episode featuresLarry David 's third cameo: he is heard off-screen as the voice of Newman.Wayne Knight re-recorded Newman's lines for the syndicated version of this episode to establish better continuity. Both episode versions are available on the DVD for Season 2.
* Part of this episode was inspired by an incident wherein Larry David quit his writing job at "Saturday Night Live " in the middle of a season, only to show up to work a few days later acting as if nothing had happened. He was more successful in his endeavors than George is in this episode, actually returning to the "SNL" writing staff for the remainder of the season.
