"The Suicide" is the thirty-second episode of the sitcom "Seinfeld". The episode was the 15th episode for the show's third season. It aired on January 29, 1992.

This is the first episode where we see Newman. Previously his voice could be heard in The Revenge, when he threatened to jump off the top of the apartment building. His first line is "I can't eat fruit; it makes me incontinent." However, in the episode "The Mango", he is seen eating a mango. He also asks for Kramer's Mackinaw peaches when Kramer loses his taste temporarily during the episode "The Doodle."

While at the psychic George mentions that his brother impregnated a girl named Pauline. This is the first of only two mentions (The Parking Space) of George having a brother in the entire series.

At one point in this episode, George and Jerry discuss the genetics behind George's hair loss, and Jerry mentions that George's father is bald. To the casual viewer, this is a continuity error, as Frank Costanza is seen in many subsequent episodes with a full head of hair. However, in the original NBC network version of Season 4's "The Handicap Spot", Frank made his first appearance as portrayed by bald-headed actor John Randolph. The line in this episode only became an error when Jerry Stiller took over the role of Frank in Season 5's "The Puffy Shirt" and reshot the Frank Costanza scenes in "The Handicap Spot" to establish better actor continuity for syndication.

Plot

Elaine needs to fast before an x-ray, so she tries stuffing herself three days before the test. After his neighbor Martin tries to commit suicide, Jerry is hit on by his girlfriend, Gina, while at the hospital. A psychic warns George to cancel his vacation to the Cayman Islands. However, Elaine offends her because she is smoking while pregnant, and the psychic kicks them out before she can tell George why he should cancel his vacation. In fear, George sells his ticket to Kramer.

Jerry becomes worried when Newman (a friend of Martin) sees him with Gina. Elaine starts hallucinating from hunger. Everything hinges on a Drake's coffee cake.

While in the Caymans, Kramer plays nude backgammon with Elle Macpherson, one of the models there for a shooting of Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue, off-camera. Upon his return, he explains to George that he was stung on the foot by a jellyfish and that is why the psychic didn't want him to go on his trip. George sarcastically agrees.
